The Richard Petty Motorsports NASCAR racing team has everything needed to compete for a Sprint Cup Championship. It has history, a racing legend, experienced people to run the organization and a desire to win. Owner Richard Petty comes from a family background of racing history. His father, Lee Petty started racing cars on the dirt tracks of North Carolina with the real “drive them on the road” stock cars and subsequently won three Grand National Championships (now Sprint Cup). Richard Petty Driving CareerRichard began driving in 1958 and won his first race at the Charlotte Speedway in 1960. During his 32 years of racing career on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit, he won seven Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) Championships and received awards too numerous to list. Richard Petty retired from competitive driving at the end of the 1992 NASCAR season. Forming the NASCAR team of Petty Enterprises with son Kyle, the drive for perfection and winning continued.
